Wilderness is a seaside town in the Garden Route of the southern Cape in South Africa. It is situated on the N2 down the Kaaiman's River Pass, a short distance east from the city of George. It is known for its lagoons and long white sand beach. The town caters mainly to holidaymakers and is situated directly on the Touw River Lagoon.

The town experiences a particularly mild climate and has little temperature variation, typical of the Garden Route, seldom dropping below 10°C and above 28°C. The flora type is Afromontane gallery forest. The Outeniqua Choo Tjoe steam train runs through the town en route between Knysna and George
