St Helena Bay is located in the West Coast Region of the Western Cape Province. It is a bustling fishing harbour, in a tranquil country village. This beautiful bay is a birdwatchers' paradise and home to dolphins and whales all year round, with magnificent flowers in late winter and spring. Activities include diving, hiking, kayaking, surfing, windsurfing, whale watching and 4x4 trails.

St Helena Bay was named by Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama and is an important fishing centre, providing support for the local economy. St Helena Bay is known for its crayfish, snoek and anchovies. St Helena Bay has the highest concentration of fish processing factories in South Africa. The eleven factories situated within the region are responsible for over half of the fish that is produced in South Africa annually. The cray fishing industry at St Helena Bay was set up in 1915.
