Stanford is located in the Overberg Region of the Western Cape Province and is known for its tranquillity. But there are also activities available such as cruising down the river in on the African Queen or kayaking down the Klein River.

There are arts and crafts and hiking trails available. Stanford is overlooked by the Klein River Mountains and is on the banks of the Klein River itself.

Stanford now has a number of vineyards and more seem to be emerging every year and the local Klein River Dairy’s cheese shop offers some mouth watering options including a local Gruyere, one of the few made in South Africa.
