Information on Langebaan, Western Cape, South Africa

Langebaan is a town on the eastern shore of Langebaan Lagoon in the Western Cape. It is situated north of Cape Town, between Saldanha Bay and Vredenburg. The Lagoon stretches for from Saldanha Bay, past Langebaan, to Geelbek in the South.

There are over 300 species of birds found in the lagoon waters of the West Coast National Park. Whales can be spotted during October and November. The park is most busy during the spring flower season when the wild flowers are in bloom. One of the main attractions of Langebaan are the white sand beaches surrounding the clear waters of the Langebaan Lagoon. The protected waters of the lagoon and mild climate make Langebaan popular for fishing, sailing, kayaking and kitesurfing. The town offers several holiday facilities for water sport enthusiasts.
