Ladybrand is a small farming town in the Free State province. It is close to Maseru, the capital of Lesotho. Ladybrand was founded in 1867 following the Basotho Wars. It was named after Lady Catharine Brand, the mother of the speaker of the Cape Province legislative assembly, Sir Christoffel Brand.

The Catharina Museum houses collections of tools dating back to the Stone Age and locally discovered fossils. Ladybrand was founded in 1867 after Basotho Wars. Ladybrand offers spectacular mountain scenery and a base to explore the Golden Gate National Park. There are many hiking trails in the surrounding mountains.
