Greyton is a small town in the Western Cape Overberg area that lies at the foot of the Riviersonderend Mountain range, on an old wagon route named the old Cape Highway. It is a fascinating place with many dwellings originating from 1860. Footbridges cross leiwater streams to lush gardens and thatched cottages.

Greyton’s shops are intriguing and quirky. You can buy retro furnishings, designer clothes, original artworks, antiques, silk quilts, and home made delicacies. Restaurants and cafes offer lush gardens, shady patios, and art filled saloons in which to wine, dine and be refreshed.

The magnificent surrounding countryside comprises some of the best Fynbos in the Western Cape. Challenge yourself on the 17 km Greyton-McGregor Hiking Trail. The route winds through some of the most picturesque areas.

There are well-marked walks ranging from an easy stroll to a two or three day hike. The outdoor adventurer can also enjoy horseriding, swimming in the river, mountain-biking and 4x4 trails. A wide variety of outdoor activities are on offer, hiking, walking, bird watching, horse riding, cycling and fishing in the surrounding mountains.
