Bergville is a town situated in the foothills of the Drakensberg in KwaZulu-Natal. Originally called Bergville Mountain Village, it is now the commercial centre for a cattle ranching and dairy area.

Bergville is equidistant from Durban and Johannesburg. It is the gateway to the Northern Drakensberg area. Route 74 on which it lies is a more scenic alternative to the N3. This route takes you via the Oliviershoek Pass, traditionally used to access the Drakensberg, from Johannesburg and through Winterton from Durban.

The rivers are well stocked with trout. The municipality maintains a holiday resort on the banks of the river. Given its settings in beautiful unspoilt countryside, Bergville is a much favoured ecotourism destination. Not far from Bergville is the Spioenkop Battlefield and Dam resort and the Rangeworthy Cemetery that holds the graves of those killed in the battles of Spioenkop and Bastion Hill.
