The CSIR Meraka Institute in cooperation with the IEEE and the university of Zululand are proud organizers of the 5th International Conference on Adaptive Science and Technology (ICAST 2013). This year’s event will be hosted at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria, from 25th – 27th November 2013. The theme is The Future is Now: Adaptive Science and Technology Unbound.


Members of the African and international Information and Communication Technology community are cordially invited to participate in debate and discussion around topics such as Satellite communications, , Long Term Evolution networks, Smart Utility Systems, mHealth and Mobile Technologies – to name but a few!

The conference will feature an exhibition hall where technology businesses, educational institutions, industry and government can showcase their service offerings and products.

Established in 2006, ICAST has become a fast-growing, open-call, double-blind, peer-reviewed and international conference series in innovation and technology. ICAST 2013 offers a forum for practitioners, industries and researchers to discuss all aspects of computing with like-minded professionals in the ICT fields.

The objectives of ICAST include:

  • The promotion of development and research activities in ICT, computer science, engineering, software development, general technology and allied areas.
  • Providing a platform for networking between technology practitioners and researchers, policy makers and stakeholders of development and research at affordable costs.
  • Reducing the digital divide between the developing and developed countries.
