Secunda is a fairly new town built around coalfields in Mpumalanga, South Africa. The town of Secunda was built when the construction of Sasol Two commenced. Sasol Two (1980) and Sasol Three (1982), known as Secunda CTL, produces synthetic fuel, diesel, and related fuels and petrochemicals from coal gasification. Sasol Two and Three are large industrial refineries, within view, and sometimes earshot, of the town of Secunda.

Secunda has several businesses, some private and other corporate which are highly successful. Among some are Game, Spar, Pick 'n Pay, Mr Price and Mr Price Home, along with many restaurants and fast food establishment, namely McDonalds, the South African fast food chain Steers, and also a Spur Steakhouse, among many others.
