The dam is nestled at the bottom of the picturesque Valley of a Thousand Hills.The road to the dam winds down the side of the Valley through scenic countryside. The road is effectively a cul de sac but there is a dirt road at the dam that will take you to Wartburg. The Dam is being developed as a 3500ha wildlife reserve and currently houses zebra, impala and duiker. You can go on sundowner cruises on the dam. There are toilets, picnic and braai facilities at the dam as well as a conference centre.

uShaka Marine World is a theme park located in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It comprises 4 sections, uShaka Sea World, uShaka Wet 'n Wild, uShaka Beach and uShaka Village Walk. It is the 5th largest aquarium in the world boasting 32 tanks totaling 17,500 cubic meters of water. The sea creatures found in the aquarium range from small sea horses all the way through to sharks and dolphins. The Phantom Ship contains a number of restaurants and cafes and serves as the entrance to the aquarium. The water park which contains many rides for the young and old. From the lazy river ride which goes through the ship wreck and past some tanks, to the adrenaline pumping high speed slides.There is a large grass area around the swimming pools where people can relax and tan if they have had too much of the slides. uShaka Beach which has direct access from the amusement park. It boasts a large pier leading out into the ocean and pristine sand beaches. The Village Walk is designed in an african theme. Restaurants, cafes and other shops can be find in the Village Walk.

Sahara Stadium Kingsmead is a Cricket ground in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. When a Test series is played in South Africa, this ground usually hosts the Boxing Day Test. It is the stadium used every other year for the finish of the Comrades Marathon, an ultramarathon run annually between Durban and Pietermaritzburg. Because the run alternates directions each year, it only finishes in Durban in odd-numbered years.

The Comrades Marathon

The Comrades Marathon is the world's oldest and largest ultramarathon run over a distance of approximately 90 km (55.9 mi) between the capital of the Kwazulu-Natal Province of South Africa, Pietermaritzburg, and the coastal city of Durban. The direction of the race alternates each year between the up run starting from Durban and the down run starting from Pietermaritzburg.

Phezulu Safari Park is only 30 minutes from Durban. When you visit Phezulu you enter into the heart of Zulu traditions. In a typical Zulu village of beehive huts, you can experience the Zulu way of life, watch sangomas (witchdoctors and traditional healers) and watch Zulu dancing. PheZulu means 'high up' and the safari park is high up the hills above the Valley of a Thousand Hills. There is also traditional lunches available for visitors.
