Main discussion room seats 60 -100 people. Boardroom and adjacent private dining room with seating for 8-20 pax, overlooking the dam. Media centre with plasma screen and seating for +/- 10 to 15 pax and internet points. Secretarial services. Fax and copy service
The main focus of the boardroom is the vibrant painting "Giant Leap"
by Paul de Toit, which resembles the evolution of man. Comic-like faces
are boldly outlined and detailed in black. Naive child-like figures painted
in flat bright colours are reminiscent of Picasso. Forum Homini hopes
this painting will be used as the veritable icebreaker for our delegates,
as they try and identify the personalities within the painting! The boardroom
table is custom-made by Pierre Cronje and made of warm kiaat. Inlayed
with a lighter shade which creates an interesting border with high-gloss
finish. Totems (megaliths) by David Rossouw depict the narrative of man's
move out of Africa into the rest of the world, and back again as travellers
and guests of Forum Homini. This magnificent procession of sixteen totems
alongside the conference room is inspired by Michelangelo's "struggling
slaves". Eclectic images are jumbled up in graffiti–like fashion,
but they do describe man's journey. Some figures refer to ancient man,
others evolve into modern depictions, and some are pregnant – implying
an unknown future to the story. A series of lines that run across all
totems link them visually. They will be left unpolished and metamorphasise
over time.
